Understanding Gravitational Clustering with Non-Linear Perturbation Theory
نویسنده
چکیده
I discuss new results concerning the evolution of the bispectrum due to gravitational instability from gaussian initial conditions using one-loop perturbation theory (PT). Particular attention is paid to the transition from weakly non-linear scales to the non-linear regime at small scales. Comparison with numerical simulations is made to assess the regime of validity of the perturbative approach.

LAGRANGIAN THEORY OF GRAVITATIONAL INSTABILITY OF FRIEDMAN-LEMAITRE COSMOLOGIES - GENERIC THIRD ORDER MODEL FOR NON-LINEAR CLUSTERING by
The Lagrangian perturbation theory on Friedman-Lemaˆıtre cosmologies investigated and solved up to the second order in earlier papers (Buchert 1992, Buchert & Ehlers 1993) is evaluated up to the third order. On its basis a model for non-linear clustering applicable to the modeling of large-scale structure in the Universe for generic initial conditions is formulated. A truncated model is propose...

We apply the hierarchical clustering model and non-linear perturbation theory to the cosmological density and temperature fields. This allows us to calculate the intergalactic gas pressure power spectrum, SZ anisotropy power spectrum, skewness and related statistics. Then we show the effect of the non-gravitational heating. Our model confirms recent simulations yielding mass weighted gas temper...
متن کاملCosmological Perturbations: Entering the Non-Linear Regime
We consider one-loop corrections (non-linear corrections beyond leading order) to the bispectrum and skewness of cosmological density fluctuations induced by gravitational evolution, focusing on the case of Gaussian initial conditions and scale-free initial power spectra, P (k) ∝ k. As has been established by comparison with numerical simulations, tree-level (leading order) perturbation theory ...
متن کاملNon-linear Approximations to Gravitational Instability: a Comparison in Second-order Perturbation Theory
Nonlinear approximation methods such as the Zeldovich approximation, and more recently the frozen flow and linear potential approximations, are sometimes used to simulate nonlinear gravitational instability in the expanding Universe. We investigate the relative accuracy of these approximations by comparing them with the exact solution using second order perturbation theory. We evaluate the dens...
متن کاملHyperextended Cosmological Perturbation Theory: Predicting Non-linear Clustering Amplitudes
We consider the long-standing problem of predicting the hierarchical clustering amplitudes Sp in the strongly non-linear regime of gravitational evolution. N-body results for the nonlinear evolution of the bispectrum (the Fourier transform of the three-point density correlation function) suggest a physically motivated ansatz that yields the strongly non-linear behavior of the skewness, S3, star...
